Eldorado Community Preserve

v7, November 3, 2026. Opens on the hyperspectral stand mix from NASA's EMIT instrument on the space station. Every other layer loads only when you switch it on; its size is under its name. Public data only. This page: eldorado-preserve-twin.pages.dev

Hyperspectral (NASA EMIT)

EMIT is an imaging spectrometer on the International Space Station. It reads each 60 m square of ground in 285 colors of light, from blue to the far infrared. Living leaves, dry grass and litter, and bare soil each reflect their own pattern, so every square can be split into how much of each it holds; the stand mix and tree cover are made from that. Four clear passes were read: Jun 24, 2023 (its south half under cloud), Aug 20, 2023, Oct 3, 2024 and Jun 17, 2025.

3D surface

3D trees (modeled forest)

One surface at a time. Lidar top surface: the ground raised by the 2014 lidar tree heights (4.7 MB, loaded when pressed). Google 3D tiles: Google's photographed 3D mesh of the ground and trees; while it is on, the map layers do not show (they lie on the bare ground). Modeled forest: one 3D tree at each 2014 lidar tree top, shaped by its height (4.6 MB, loaded when pressed).
